For those interested, the Fourth International Conference on Climate Gate Change is going on now.  They will have multimedia posted here:

To get a slice of what slimeballs these climate 'scientists' are, check out Steve McIntyre's presentation at the previously mentioned conference.  He narrowly focuses one aspect..."hide the decline" and its history since 1998.  Fascinating.

Because they won't sell on their own, Congress has to "push" electric cars (figuratively and literally) sales...

Climate denial activists’ parallel to anti-relativity movement of 1920s

“This world is a strange madhouse. Currently, every coachman and every waiter is debating whether relativity theory is correct. Belief in this matter depends on political party affiliation.”

So wrote Albert Einstein in a letter to his one time collaborator, the mathematician Marcel Grossmann in 1920.

Jeroen van Dongen of the Institute for History and Foundations of Science at Utrecht University in Holland, writing in a recent edition of the journal, ‘Studies in History and Philosophy of Modern Physics,’ describes the effectiveness of the movement that grew up to oppose Einstein’s theory. There are some striking parallels with today’s climate debate.

This global warming thing is really starting to heat up...

PORTLAND DA: CRIMINAL PROSECUTION POSSIBLE IN THE AL GORE SEX SCANDAL

LATEST: In a bombshell new development in the AL GORE sex scandal -- broken EXCLUSIVELY earlier today by The ENQUIRER -- the Oregon District Attorney says there's "the possibility of a criminal prosecution."

In a statement just released by Multnomah County (OR.) D.A. Michael D. Schrunk, the official reveals that "our office was notified by the Portland Police Bureau that further investigation of this matter had been conducted by it in 2009 and we were provided with the reports from that further investigation."

First, the northern hemisphere, now the southern.  Pretty soon this "warming" thing might be global...

Small relief to arrive from winter chill
9 News [Australia], by Staff

There is little relief in sight for Melbourne and Sydney commuters as they shiver through one of the coldest weather spells in years. In Sydney, motorists have had to scrape ice off their windscreens on the frostiest June morning in 27 years. At 6am (AEST) it was a chilly 4.3 degrees in the Sydney CBD, colder than yesterday's low of 4.7 degrees. Further west at Richmond it was a biting minus five degrees.

Suddenly and inexplicably, and possibly for the first time ever, the New Scientist becomes concerned about science...

Without candour, we can't trust climate science

IS CLIMATEGATE finally over? It ought to be, with the publication of the third UK report into the emails leaked from the University of East Anglia's Climatic Research Unit (CRU). Incredibly, none looked at the quality of the science itself.

The MPs' inquiry - rushed out before the UK general election on 6 May - ducked the science because the university said it was setting up an "independent scientific assessment panel" chaired by geologist Ron Oxburgh.

After publishing his five-page epistle, Oxburgh declared "the science was not the subject of our study". Finally, last week came former civil servant Muir Russell's 150-page report. Like the others, he lambasted the CRU for its secrecy but upheld its integrity - despite declaring his study "was not about... the content or quality of [CRU's] scientific work" (see "Scientists respond to Muir Russell report").

It would that UEA is awash...in white.  What will the New Scientist say now?

Breaking: Phil Jones got to endorse papers for Oxburgh inquiry
Posted on July 19, 2010 by Anthony Watts

Dr. Phil Jones of the UEA Climate research unit - Photo: The Guardian

Previously I have said this about the lack of integrity regarding the recent Climategate investigations:

The investigations thus far are much like having a trial with judge, jury, reporters, spectators, and defendant, but no plaintiff. The plaintiff is locked outside the courtroom sitting in the hall hollering and hoping the jury hears some of what he has to say. Is it any wonder the verdicts keep coming up “not guilty”?

Now from Bishop Hill we learn that it appears that the Oxburgh investigation let Dr. Phil Jones endorse what evidence (papers he’s published) to review. So let me amend what I said above:

The investigations thus far are much like having a trial with judge, jury, reporters, spectators, and defendant, but no plaintiff. The plaintiff is locked outside the courtroom sitting in the hall hollering and hoping the jury hears some of what he has to say. And, to add insult to injury, when you let the accused endorse which pieces of evidence might be a “fair sample”, is it any wonder the verdicts keep coming up “not guilty”?

This entire mess is snowballing again with UEA, CRU,  and Dr. Jones right at the center again.

Details here at Bishop Hill who writes:

Well, now we know who the redactions were. The contact through with the Royal Society was through Martin Rees – we knew that already. The other redaction, the other person consulted about whether the sample of papers was reasonable, was…Phil Jones.

Now, whichever way you look at it, this is a funny question to put to the accused if one’s objective is a fair trial. I mean, what could Jones say? “You’ve picked all my bad papers”? And of course Jones must have known that the sample was not representative.

Gobsmacked I am, surprised I am not.

Wouldn't it be great if there were a plaintiff willing to testify and willing to be cross examined?

Of course, we would constantly remind said plaintiff of the oath to tell the truth.

The truth??   What's that?

So much for the plaintiff.

Consider the Boston Globe's recent editorial in which they tout punitive energy costs based on this statement:

"Utilities produce about one-third of the nation’s total of the most common greenhouse gas, carbon dioxide."

This is what happens when you have people with an agenda with no scientific knowledge whatsoever.  They apparently have no investigative skills either.  This is propaganda pure and simple.

Thank you, public education.

OK kids, for the last time, the most common greenhouse gas is.................??

Hint: Man has little or nothing to do with it....

"Thank you, public education."  A gratuitous slam at public education.  Being from Boston the writer probably went to parochial school.  (you have your assumption and I have mine which is equally valid)

"Man has little or nothing to do with it"

Not so.. warming of the earth by the other greenhouse gases increase the evaporation of water thus as long as man produces greenhouse gases that result in the warming of the earth man is also responsible for the increase in water vapor

I hear massage therapists are like Lays Potato Chips...you can't abuse just one.

Two More Massage Therapists Accuse Al Gore of Sexual Assault
Katya Wachtel

Former Vice President Al Gore has been hit by new allegations of sexual assault. This time, it's two more massage therapists bringing the charges.

The former VP is already in hot water, fighting abuse claims in Portland, where another masseuse said Gore groped her in '06 and asked her to perform a "chakra release" (massage-speak for "hand job".) He denies everything.

The new allegations are said to have taken place at two hotels - one in Beverly Hills in 2007, when Gore was in Hollywood for the Oscars, the other in Tokyo in 2008.
