Well, well, well...the rank and file get a 1.5% raise....the Board of Trustees and the upper echelon get 19% (over 2 years).

OSU extends health benefits to domestic partners in secret meetings.

Tuition is going up again (at least 4 times inflation) this fall.

Sentinel is on the case: http://www.osusentinel.com/theopenend/

Go, Tony, give 'em hell.  I'm particularly interested in the degree to which the people of Ohio are subsidizing the domestic partners insurance covereage WITHOUT A VOICE.

As for the raise situation, what's new?  New buildings are erected (sometimes named after LIVING people or furniture stores), the "suits" grow richer, and the docile rank and file accept it without much fuss.  The place is a plantation.

At the next exec meeting, I want to work with everyone to collect the details of this and dedciate most of the first print edition of The Sentinel to this mess.  Joe Newhard of The Sentinel is now a USG Senator (student government) and I'm helping him write a letter that many USG senators will sign and we can print to show that students are fed up with how their tuition money and taxes are being used.

Go ahead, Matt...knock yourself out.  But the administration works hard to coopt the Board of Trustees (and with Taft appointing them, it ain't hard) -- astounded by the pretty graphs, hip-deep BS, and the stupid "keeping up with the Jones" mentality, the Trustees pass along the costs to you (and "non-suit" employees).  And the buildings keep going up, and the quality ... well, no comment.

The solution?  A conservative governor who'll pack the Trustees, regain control of the University, and do some housecleaning.  Probably won't happen -- too many football fans, I suppose.

Those football fans blind the public to the fact that OSU is a plantation.
