George from the Northwest and I went. RowdyGirl was also there. It was an all in all good event. The media has done a good job scaring people away from Ron Parsley, and George and I found him to be surprizingly mainstream, and nothing like the snake healer that we had expected. Unfortunately cameras were not allowed.

George for the NW got her autograph. The other thing nice about Rod is he has a book titled "Silent No More." Which is a clear reference to the agenda of turning religous organizations into a political powerhouse like the Black Churches have been for years. What was most impressive was the way he was able to talk to both sides of the political spectrum, be accepted, and still have a clearly conservative agenda. Half of his audience was African American, and they love him. He talks about slavery, racism, and other hot topic issue with ease, the his African American church goers seem to accept him. All in all it was a totally enjoyable night. George and I were leary about going, and almost turned around after they wouldn't let me carry in my camera, and said that there would be a sermon. George though he was a snake oil sales man, and faith healer. I had no real preconcerived notions other than whaqt I got off this board and from George. By the end of the night Geroge had bought his book, and was claiming that Rod was the best speaker of the night. My observation is that it is best to take an open mind no matter what you are going to attend. Not being a particularily religous person, I have attended church twice this year. Once to see Zell Miller at a Baptist Church, and once to see Ann Coulter at the World Harvest Church. Both times I have been positively suprized and felt right at home. I was heartened to see so many young children and teenagers enjoying themselves. I for one am all for the values voting issues, and hope relion, morals, and principles play a much bigger roll in elections. If the conservative churches have half the luck the Black Churches do, you will never see a Democratic President again.

And I fully believe that it is a violation of religious liberty to not allow churches to endorse candidates. I Heard that Senator DeWine and others are working on legislation involving this.

It's really funny how the "left" has utilized churches for many years to advance their agenda. I remember as a young man that when churches from the "right" started making a toe hold within the political arena the democrats wanted to revoke the "tax exempt status" that they were under.

It sounds as though Mr. Parsley has grown-up some after a few situations. I can tell you that the "black community" has labled those who attend his church as having "abandoned their people & their true sense of idenity". The one thing you can nail these "leftist black churches" with is by simply asking what "additional assistance" the city of Columbus has been providing them with since the election of Mayor Mike.

It's not that I would hold anything against a church who receives help from the local, state or federal government, why then is the "left" so insistent on the seperation of church & state? It's merely another lie and load of BS exposing the "left" for who they are. The snake oil salesman isn't behind the pulpit on Sunday morning, it's the "left" trying to pull the wool over everyone else's eyes.

It's ashame that these folks are being led to the slaughter to pad the pockets of their "so-called leaders" not only does this happen in Columbus, Cincinnati is another prime example of afew "well educated or men of the cloth" doing well while their flock is spinning their tires in poverty. +

I don't know if anyone has noticed this or not........how many of these "so-called  reverends" have more than a mail order certificate to hang their shingle on?
All I know is that when I spent my time in church the pastor who led the church had graduated seminary with many hours of college courses to back him up.
It's nice to hear that those who attended had a good time.

AdamSmith,

It's always a pleasure seeing you. Smiley It also was great to see George. Please forgive my foggy brain - I get forgetful at times in social situations when trying to introduce people! The other gentleman I was talking to was Jeff, who is a stalwart fan of Ann's and I met through Ann's site. I've tried to do a little cross-pollenization between these two boards. (Even though I have been absent from both for awhile.) There are several Columbus members at Ann's board. (www.anncoulter.com) It was good to see Jeff make it.

I also was surprised by Rod Parsley's presentation but I do think he toned it down for the diverse crowd. As you probably already know, the event was advertised to reach not just the conservative, religious person; but anyone who was concerned about the moral decline of our society.

It was great to see Ann! The kids in front of me somehow smuggled in a camera and still took pictures. (!) Even in spite of one of the 'bouncers' saying (as one young man was snapping away) "Please, no pictures." Ah, youth!

I couldn't resist still introducing myself to her. She signed my copy of "Slander" and when I finally was standing in front of her, I quickly stuck out my hand and said, "Hi, Ann. I'm 'RowdieGal' and I'm on your board. Thanks!"

Her eyes got big (I think it was the mention of her board) and then said, "Oh! I owe you a postcard!"

I have no idea about any postcard but I will say if she does send me one, I'm framing it!
