Mayor Coleman was on "The Glenn Beck Show" today, Wednesday April 20 at 11:45 AM to discuss the Mifflin incident. He just made it under the wire before the show ended.

Un....Be....Live...Able.

I mean, I have never, EVER heard someone try so hard to cover his tracks like Coleman did during this interview. Beck's people had secured an agreement from Coleman's office for an interview today. However, yesterday as they were trying to nail down a time, Coleman's office suddenly didn't know what was going on.

They stonewalled Beck's crew and didn't return their calls.

So today, Beck had some fun with it. He "interviewed" Stu (his producer, I believe) while Stu pretended to be Coleman.

Finally, Coleman's office called and the interview happened. Or perhaps I shouldn't call it an interview. It was more a public admision that

COLEMAN IS THE MOST IMPOTENT MAN ON EARTH.[/size]

I say this in all seriousness.

Beck's stance basically was this: As the Mayor of Columbus, what are you doing about the Mifflin incident? How are you using your influence in order to bring justice to this situation?

Coleman refused to answer these two main questions. He couldn't even give a straight answer to Beck for this question: As a man, as a father, aren't you outraged by this incident?

Nothing. The man could not even give a straight answer to such a question. He kept yammering on and on (it was so annoying) about how the school system wasn't under his jurisdiction but the police were. As it was a criminal investigation, he (of course) could not comment on it.

WHAT LUNACY!!!!!

All he would say was "It will be dealt with." Well, duh.

Oh, he admitted he didn't send his kids to the public schools but a Catholic HS instead because he wanted them "to get a religious education." And no, he isn't Catholic.

I am so hoping Beck comes to Columbus to do a show. I found it very amusing that he emphasized how Coleman would be running for GOVERNOR.

Go Blackwell!

I heard about this- I just signed up as an insider subscriber to hear the replay

I'd like to post this on my Blackwell blog- Is the interview so long that I probably shouldn't post the audio?

Hi Matt,

Nope. Pretty short. I'd say the interview only lasted about twelve minutes. Twelve ugly minutes, that is...

Coleman is clearly an idiot.  He's the Democrats' sacrificial lamb.

I'll tell you another story.

I was invited to this Right to Die/Right to Life panel discussion at Capital University last week.  The Republicans sent their Right to Life person, that was fine.  I was there for the Libertarians.  Do you know that the Democrats didn't send anyone?  I talked to the professor and his teaching assistant.  They say they had spoken with two dozen Democrats and the leaders of the party and they couldn't get anyone to come to this event.

This and other anecdotal evidence is leading me to believe that the Democrats are dying, they're falling apart.  They themselves are giving up.  I think that their party is not long for this world.

Robert,

Isn't that something? I'm not surprised. The Democrats are in a very tough spot. On one hand, they know they've alienated those in the church. Shrillery (and for the record, I coined that name) tried to pass herself off as a moderate but IMO, that went over like a lead balloon.

The Democratic Party is truly the POD. (Party of Death) And they are dying. Coleman's pathetic performance emphasized this point more than ever.

I mean, for God's sake, Coleman (you do believe in Him, as it was so important to make sure your kids heard about Him..) a young girl was sexually assaulted at a high school that like it or not...

...WAS UNDER YOUR WATCH. YOU'RE THE MAYOR. DO SOMETHING.

Doing something doesn't just mean firing the principal. It doesn't mean slapping a few days suspension on the assistant principals. It should mean...

...CLOSING THE SCHOOL. PERIOD.

I was so angry after this interview that I almost threw the radio across the room.

I was sitting in Lancaster laughing my butt off when I heard the Coleman interview, that's our mayor duuuuhhhhhhh. Now to think that they will have had nearly 21 hours after the show to come up with material based off that interview, the show in the morning should be a gas.

Now the flip side, but seriously folks. Need I remind you that when Mayor Mike ran for the mayor's office one of his sons' was arrested for tagging a local Jewish Temple. This is the same mayor who travels with a police officer for his own protection, yet Mayor Mike still believes citizens of Columbus shouldn't have the right to conceal carry.

Never mind he had to cry to the feds to clean up the city since the battle between him and the police chief ended up with the mayor hiding under his desk when the city was enduring the killings of last summer.

Mayor Mike still hasn't kept the promises he made to the police & fire unions that backed him in the last 2 elections. The end result now is that police and fire manning levels are so pitfull any real 1 emergency situation leaves the rest of the city exposed to heightened chances of catastrophic proportions.

I'll be eagerly listening to see what Stu and Glenn come up with for tommrow's show.

That was back during his first run for Mayor. Bob Connors ran a pair of 2 minute clips from that interview this morning and as per the norm he is riding the fence.

I will be the first to agree that Glenn can sometimes take a tangent the wrong direction, unfortunately for Mayor Mike he was dead on. The interview showed a sterile attitude when the issue of his personal feelings of the sexual assualt, Mayor Mike also lied concerning pokice officers in the school buildings. Mifflin High's officer was out of the building that day for "training". Never mind this is the same school system that was ready to cut officers within the schools because of "budget problems".

I realize not everyone can appreciate AdamSmith's zeal when it comes to photo shop and the SWCS levy, however as a parent this I can tell you. There is nothing worse than to have a "supposedly certified" teacher wait till there is only 6 weeks left in a school year to notify you that your student is in need of a significant IEP.

This same student never should have been passed on to the 5th grade due to the fact that his classroom participation and many other classroom level activities fell off the bottom of the chart. Then when the next parent teacher conference occurs she walks out when after refusing to account for her lack of responsiblity as an educator. The conference in question was audio taped.

Now the flip side to this was the kids didn't like this school system "because it was too hard", granted they now attend in a school district that has considerably less opportunties which does not push them to accel. None the less they found an easier school system.

Not only is our local government in crisis our schools as well find themselves in the same situation. The safety forces in the city of Columbus are in probably the worse state of affairs in the history of the city. We have a police chief we cannot get rid of and police officers who cannot due the job they have trained for due to their hands being tied by administrative command decisions.

The equipment the fire department is sub-standard in comparison to what neighboring suburban departments run. The issue isn't a monetary one, there is a refusal to purchase "quality equipment". The struggle with day to day manning levels is enormous. For what the city pays out in overtime they could save it if only fire classes would be increased.

Not to mention that Mayor Mike's way of dealing with Arlene Shoemaker (former Franklin County Commissioner) who he didn't believe were playing ball with him was to call her "that bitch". It was in relation to his pet after school programs.

After the state of disaray Mayor Mike has brought this city into I wouldn't hire him as a dog pooper scooper. We already have plenty of state problems we sure don't need the rest of the state looking like Columbus......a wreck.

Rumor was floating on 610 also this morning that Lee Fisher (I believe former state attorney general?) is considering throwing his hat in the governor's race.
