I love how the media keeps saying the Catholic Church is out of touch with its members. I watched Beltway Boys yesterday and Mort kept mentioning birth control, condoms, and AIDS, as if those are the only issues that matter to the average AMerican, and morals and values are irrelevent. Now, to show the bias, why isn't the media looking at leftist groups? Is NOW in touch with the average married woman? NAMBLA, ACLU, Amnesty INternational with the average American? The NEA with Parents? NAACP with the average Black that wants privatized social security and a voucher? ALF/ELF/PETA/Sierra Club with the average American that loves to eat meat, buy big homes, drive SUV's, and doesn't want to pay $8.00 for a gallon of gas? The Democratic Party that controls no branches of Governement, and hasn't won a majority of the vote for a Presidential election in over 2 decades. If birth control is the only thing that the Catholic Church is out of touch on, then that makes them far more in tune than any of the left wing organizations our there.

Right on AdamSmith !!!   The last foothold the left has is the propaganda stage of the media. And the left-wing media, thanks to NYT,LA Times,ABC,NBC,CBS and of course CNN, are outing themselves. NOW.....if the REPUBLICAN can muster up the courage to act like the leaders we know they are.....well....we just might be able to save the country from that fast train to socialism.

Tory fury as BBC sends hecklers to bait Howard
By Patrick Hennessy, Political Editor
(Filed: 24/04/2005)

The BBC was last night plunged into a damaging general election row after it admitted equipping three hecklers with microphones and sending them into a campaign meeting addressed by Michael Howard, the Conservative leader.

NOW doesn't care about being in touch with its "membership." Their silence during the whole Terry Schiavo thing showed how interested they are ... and they do NOT represent the views of the average American female.

I can count on one hand the women that can identify with them.

The funny thing about all this is that the partisans of small government presume to tell everyone else how to think, how to live or for that matter how to die...talk about out of touch!!!  The Taliban is coming!!!

Listen, Mr. Shadow, if you compare the Religious Right to the Taliban, you earn labels for yourself.  And I'll bet you don't know very much about biological evolution...

Naugle,
There's a difference between pro-life conservatives and theocrats. I'm a pro-life conservative but I am in no way a theocrat, and there are plenty more like me. I think the problem is people like yourself lumping us all together. Just because I am pro-life doesn't mean I support gay marriage bans, taking homosexual literature out of public libraries, or the death penalty. In fact, I strongly oppose them all.

Luby...meaning that people who DO oppose gay marriage or support the death penalty ARE theocratic Taliban-esque thugs?  Puhleeeeze.  You should stick to foreign affairs (which rightfully occupies the neo-cons)...you aren't particularly competent when discussing cultural affairs.

I might also add that all that globe-striding democracy-diffusing Westernization that you admire is predicated on cultural bedrock.  Best get with the program, lad.  You'll end up with an empty sack just like the Libertoons.

theocrat is a term used by matt's favorite blogger, andrew sullivan, to libel those who have a moral code in which does not agree with his radical gay agenda.

Oh, excuse me for my imprecision in language--I didn't mean to describe pro-death penalty, anti-gay marriage people as Taliban-esque.

However, I don't share the same reservation when it comes to people who want to ban homosexual authored or themed literature from public libraries, as is currently the case in both Alabama and Oklahoma. These people are bookburners, no better than the kind you find in Iran. So much for the Constitution...

And I do agree that the Western tradition is predicated upon a strong cultural bedrock. I think I just differ with you on whether or not adherence to that bedrock should be compulsory.

I would hardly classify Andrew Sullivan as having a radical gay agenda, Naugle. He is fairly moderate compared to most gays in the blogosphere.
