I found the political commentary to be somewhat suspect.

My 2 cents.

For 5 cents will you be more specific about what you mean by "somewhat suspect"? Cheesy

I'm curious of your perspective.  I have been listening to Bob Connors Saturday morning open phones pretty regularly for a few months, but haven't really come up with any meaningful analysis or critique of the political discourse.  Any thoughts would be appreciated, and could be worth 5 cents!

Just remember, you asked.

Nothing meaningful ever gets said on the program.

I will give you the highlights as I recall them.

You have one or two callers phone in and rant on Bob Taft for a while.  Then a guy named "Dave from Powell" calls in.  He is a call-in regular.

I hesitate to call a guy I haven't met out on the carpet on a public forum board.

Dave has a formula he follows every time I hear him.  While he does manage to present the conservative point of view, he needs to work on delivery.  He quickly points out that the critics on the left are talking from website talking points - thank you Captain Obvious.  He then proceeds to give his opinion on 5 or 6 items in the news, right up until you get the feeling BC is gonna cut him off.

By now, I have usually had more than I can stomach (Dave's delivery comes with a heavy dose of arrogance) and I turn off the radio.  I am a big fan of 610, but this is about the only time I will turn it off based on content.

Sounds like 1230 am may be more you cup of tea or are you Doo Dah Doug who is bought & paid for by George Soros & Hilliary Clinton?

The variety of callers is what has made Saturday morning open phones what it is. Everyone has something to offer on many different subjects. It amazes me that so many people are that concerned about what Dave from Powell has to say. What do you have at stake when another citizen uses his free speech to express views?

If you really want to get right down to it the only thing that really keeps 610 what it is are the following programs Glenn Beck, Rush Limbaugh, Buckeye Sports, Joel Reilly and Saturday morning open phones. The station is afraid to let Doc Rivers or Derk Thompson have a good quality time slot because they may find out that the listeners really would much rather listen to them over the juvenile rants of John Corby or Kurt Boster.

I did ask, didn't I!?!?!

Really, I appreciate your critique, and I'v noticed some of what you mentioned.  I would prefer a little more insightful diologue than sometimes shows up on the air, but you get what you get, I suppose.

And I could do without some of the commentary on the Buckeyes.  Some people really need to get a life!!!!!   Personally, I decided years ago that I wasn't willing to get that worked up over something that:   1) I have no control over  AND   2)  Doesn't REALLY matter, in the whole scheme of things ( i.e. has no lasting impact on my life, or those of anyone I know.)  Result:  I enjoy the games a lot more these days!!

Just curious, do you ever call in to the program on anything?

I have to agree with atreides, I find 610 to be fairly dry.  I'm from the Dayton area where 1290 AM has Neil Boortz, Rush, Hannity, Clark Howard then Michael Savage...non stop entertainment.  Actually I don't care for Hannity much.  It is nice to have local broadcasters to talk about local issues, but their programs seem to drag on and I find myself wanting to call in for the sole purpose of correcting some of the two-bit twits that do call in.  From my experiences, although the individuals calling in have similar perpectives to myself, they don't seem to have a clue as to what they're talking about.  If they don't screen their calls better, I find it hard not to change the channel.

Local issues seem go to by the wayside. People like do-da duggie and North Korean Rose think this is below them. So do the local talk show hosts like Fred Andrle and Secuirty Guard Cornell.  Script readers like do-da and North Korean Rose are too stupid to think for themselves. They can never answer questions when posed to them. Duggie has been outed as a Move On. org and Coleman operative. Duggie has also been exposed on various shows as the #3 Girle Man of Columbus Talk Radio. He can only read from scripts and has yet to respond to a question when posed to him(too stupid). He gets pounded on a regular basis by various callers for his fear of anwering questions when challeged by hosts and callers.

Atreides is do da duggie. Nice try bonehead. Go back to the script writer and try again.

I don't know why someone would be a member for a year and a half now and just have made their first post on a simple matter compared to other topics on this board.  Nonetheless, It would be nice for people to keep their comments in the realm of constructive.  Degrading remarks should be left for private channels.

I tend to agree.  We don't have to "constructive", but we need not be "destructive", right, kids?  ("Don't make me stop this car!!!")

Attention: The above statement was in the form of a question, do you see that question mark up there in the blue font???

Dear Mr Chainsaw,

Thank you for stopping by and enlightening our day.

Dear Lovely 5799,

While I may find fault with our programming on 610, I take offense to your degrading remarks towards the radio station. As I said earlier the variety or lack there of is contributed by those who take time to be heard. Therefore I applaud those who at least make an honest effort to contribute where it be large or small to the shows on 610.

Dear One & All

What really bites my butt is that so many people are that concerned about the free speech of a hard working man, Dave from Powell. What I have learned in my short time on this earth is that liberals believe in "freedom of speech"; that is their "freedom of speech" and they give a crap about anyone elses' "freedom of speech".

What is even worse yet is Dave isn't here to defend hisself and there are those who have no problem talking trash.

I find myself wanting to call in for the sole purpose of correcting some of the two-bit twits that do call in. Is this considered a constructive remark lovely5799 Huh

While we all may be guilty of making offensive remarks towards others that may be in our townhall, we on the other hand aren't perfect either. However we all are adults here and we aren't in the 4th grade anymore. I enjoy seeing the differing opinons of everyone and from time to time I do learn a few things. What is even more fun yet is when the local "lefty nut jobs" come here to show their lack of intellect.

As I was taught if you don't have anything nice to say just don't give it the time of day (which I do more often than not) & are you part of the problem or the solution? If you are trying to be part solution your heart is in the right place whether it be perfect or inperfect your at least putting forth effort.

For those who stand on the sidelines warming their hands in the pockets of their coats, at least you could provide encouragement & support to those who are giving their 150%.

Thank you and have a good day.
