State Issue 3 will be discussed tonight on Joel Riley's program, 610WTVN at 7pm. Last night was a fairly balanced discussion of Issue 2 where both sides were given time to get in their talking points.

It's unfortunate that WTVN doesn't do this type of thing more often.

That is good to hear, I think it's too bad they are so late on getting on board to discuss these issues.

Bob Connors had a local professor on the air this morning who trashed all 4 issues to the bone and according to Connors he never asked which party he belonged to.

I found a busy intersection today in the Northwest part of town and stood there with my sign for about 45 minutes. I received mixed reaction, yet for the most part people seem to know this is a no brainer to vote down.

Then tonight during rush hour I stood down at Columbus City Hall DIRECTLY across the street from the mayor mike's law offices for an hour. Once again there was mixed reaction yet once again people seem to know this still is a no brainer to vote down.

I had one lady tonight that became really upset with her own party to know what it is they had been up to, she wanted to know what they were going to do about affordable housing instead. She really took it personal to find out the workings of Issue 3.

I would encourage everyone to take one of the yard signs they picked up and go to a busy intersection then just stand there so they can read your sign. If your not sure about the issues make notes for each issue in the event you have a conversation with someone who may stop to talk with you.

This is a no-pressure style of making your pressence known, my basic approach is I do not speak unless I'm spoken too. You would be surprised how many people may drive through that intersection 2 or 3 times before stopping to speak with you about the issues.

This also is great exposure to mass numbers of people  that driver through the intersection who have the choice to either a: ignore it or b: start thinking about it. I also realize that this isn't something that everyone likes to do and if you've never tried it there is a chance your more comfortable doing it than you realized.

Another way to think about this is how long would it take you to canvass (walk house to house) the number of households that drive past you, plus even if you did knock on their door there is a good chance they may not even open the door. This way your there and they have no choice except to see you.

We put signs out at several of the most-trafficked intersections and on-ramps in some really intrusive places. If I had to estimate, I would say several thousand people saw the signs, so you've got a great point, tweet.

P.S.  Really, I kind of like the idea.  But, don't call us for bail money.  We spent it all on campaign literature! Wink

Did anyone catch Issue 3 on Joe Riley last night?  I only got to hear ~30 min. of it, up until the media guy came on.  I thought it was a great non-partisan break-down of the details with one clear message...the advantage is being swung in the favor of interest groups.  Riley's big question seemed to be whether the groups would favor one party or another, but my argument is that it shouldn't matter.  Special interest groups have no right to having more of a voice than any other citizen.  If their members wish to contribute to a certain party, then do so, but don't speak and spend for them in their name, while you're actually only toting your own interests.  Ideally, sure there should be limits on campaign spending to "level the playing field," but it's never going to happen, those that want to break the law, or get around it will find a way.  For the sake of practicallity, there shouldn't be any limits whatsoever, everything might as well be out in the open anyway, rather that sweeping it under the rug.  Too many people far underestimate the power of grassroot associations like ourselves.  People thought John Kerry was going to win majorily in the election by "getting out the vote," then all the  grassroot organizations stepped up to the plate and knocked Kerry out of the park by voting in record numbers.  The same can work to our favor in getting Dewine out of power and blowing back these "Reform Ohio" libs.  Sure, they expect opposition, but I think in the end, they'll far underestimate the opposition, and by the time they do, they'll be packing their bags.

Lovely5799:"If their members wish to contribute to a certain party, then do so, but don't speak and spend for them in their name, while you're actually only toting your own interests'  Well, said, but I don't think I heard that fundamental point brought up.

I think the issue was well covered, but I was in charge of my 1 year old so was in no position to call in and hold on the phone for extended periods of time.  I did hear most of it, and at least on of "us" got on and helped drive home the reasons to vote NO!

Peter is there anyway you can get me a 20 tall 30 wide pdf of the window sign/ bumpersticker that G3 created??? Time hit it hard and that would really help out alot.

Pretty unorthodox tactics for a "conservative"? Are you sure there isn't a liberal inside of you, just screaming to get out!!

After having spent 3 years in Clintonville dealing with the "usefull idiots" there is a certain part of it I miss doing, meeting different people with lots of information from the other side of the wire provides us with the ability to be on top of being able to debunk the trash the other side is spewing.

I have come to find that there are alot more people who really don't know what is going on and when they get that correct information that is hid between the fine print on the ballot issues they are appreciative that there are people who are willing to give of their time to tell the truth about what is going on.
