Chamber of Commerce stance on Issue 1

Please read the above.  We give and give and give in taxes and the government always asks for more.  I wonder if we put a halt to this, maybe some people will actually become fiscally responsible?  How can we expect those is society to quit asking for handouts when our own government continually asks for handouts from its own citizens?  It seems from driving around the Greater Columbus area that the state has enough money to repair roads at this point.  Obviously it has the money now.  Issue one is just giving the state a buffer to over spend on plans that would otherwise be properly funded without the issue.  Generally over time, real prices decrease; however government steadily receives more and more money each year, higher than the rate of inflation.  We need to say ENOUGH and back the government into a corner and require them to start evaluating their spending.

also

Issue 1 would increase the state's debt limit so the state could borrow up to $650-million to subsidize business operations, including $150-million for commercial land and $500-million for commercial operations.

Issue 1 would also renew an existing public works debt program, not yet due to expire, that pays for local roads and similar infrastructure.
