How about we start by answering the following questions:
1) Why does this demographic flock to the Democratic Party, especially when decades of support have gotten them nowhere.
2) What policies or initiatives have been introduced in Columbus over the last 5 years that have provided tangible benefits for the African American demographic.
3) Why can't we play in the idealogical arena. For example, our system is rigged to keep those who are in poverty, in poverty. The simplest, easiest thing we can do is to allow private accounts in social security. This would guarantee (if fully privatized) that every worker who makes minimum wage get at least about a quarter of a million dollars to retire on and pass on to the next generation. Democrats counted on the fact that Americans, in general, would not take the time to run the numbers and forced Republicans to withdraw the plan. The biggest beneficiary of private accounts would have been low and middle class income workers. Why could the GOP not make this case, or the case for low taxes, or the case for less government, or the case for decreased dependence on foreign oil, or the case for dealing with illegal immigration, and on and on.
What Columbus grass roots Republicans need to think about is whether it needs to be this way and whether you want to change it.
That's right: whether *you* want to change it. The filing deadline for running for the Franklin County Republican Party Central Committee is only 3 months away, and this is where these policies are set.
1) Jesse Jackson.
2) I am not aware of any.
3) You are really onto something here. People really do get trapped by poverty. Rick Santorum (US Senate, PA) has a great book out called It Takes a Family. I highly recommend it. Rick does a very thorough job of exploring the very issues you bring up. He also presents very real solutions.
The Central Committee, huh? Put up or shut up. I'll grant your point here. Congrats on winning the race for school board. I'm sure you worked hard to win, and are thus qualified to make the statement.
To be honest, I have to plead ignorance here. I've never run for anything and wouldn't know where to begin.

Well kids, as a recent flight from Clintonville to Pataskala let me tell you that it wasn't just demographics or plain ideology differences that played a major part in my decision to move my family outside of 270, it was the threat of violence afforded me and my family by the "party of peace". I remember a particular incident where my wife, myself and my infant son were in our car, it was just after the election and I still had my W sticker in the rear window of my car. A few blocks from our home, an older gentleman pulled up next to me and flipped me the bird and was swearing at me, he had his window down so I rolled mine down a little and the "F" bombs were flying. I give this guy a look, I'm sure, of bewilderment and when he speeds past, I see the Kerry bumper sticker. The rage started to rise, not because of the Kerry sticker but because this "peaceful progressive" had zero respect for the fact that my family was in the car when he decided to vent his frustration at the loss of the election. We get to the next red light and my desire to let this person know of my displeasure of his actions, led me out of the car and next to his in the middle of High St. (before you say it , I know this was a bad idea). Well, in typical liberal fashion, by the time I got half way to his car, this pilar of the community had his window up and his door locked and was yelling at me through a slightly opened window that he was calling the police. Thinking better of any further action, I made my way back to my car but not before blessing his Kerry sticker with some spittle. Then after an hour long tongue lashing from my about how I was not 18 anymore and could not act like "them". I realized that it was time to leave the "tolerent" area of Clintonville. My point is this, I chose to leave for my families sake. That same person, I'm sure would have had no problem repeating his actions with my wife when she was alone or with my son. And by no means was this an isolated incident, this just became the most escalated.

Please let me assure that what you experienced is anything but an isolated incident, as well this isn't something to experience in just Clintonville. Till things in Columbus begin to take shape in a better way I'm in exile within the suburbs, I think in great pleasure what would be the demise of these individuals should they grace any of us with their presence in the outlying areas of Columbus should they pull such a stunt.
The one weapon of choice I have found the greatest result with is my Nikon D-70, I take a picture of the offending individual and their license plate. This normally provides them with plenty of incentive to discontinue the behavior that they may be displaying. A camcorder does wonders too, especially when the police can hear what these knuckleheads are spouting.
Considering we have well over 3 years worth of pictures dealing with the liberals at anti-war rallies I believe the Columbus Police if they actually did their job would find far greater charges for these "peace loving people" to face.
Yes liberal punk skinheads your in pictures, it's just not the kind of pictures you really want to be a part of.

Thanks for sharing JW. See, you do have a sense of humor! I laughed most of the way through your story, because it is so real, and honest, .......and typical.
And Tweet, I like your tactics. Nothing a true liberal likes better than being on camera! ("Hollywood" is all the proof I need to prove that point!)
