Talk about PC trash. President Bush delivers Democracy to the Middle East changing the face of the world forever and they pick a drug using rock star and give Bill Gates the award for his donations to the AIDS cause, not for his work in making computing user friendly and incresing the productivity of the workforce. And to make matters worse, his wife get the award too. For what, giving away money? The real skill is earning it by making millions of lives better and hiring thousands of people to make your product. Pathetic choices and reasoning.

The Good Samaritans
For being shrewd about doing good, for rewiring politics and re-engineering justice, for making mercy smarter and hope strategic and then daring the rest of us to follow, Bill and Melinda Gates and Bono are TIME's Persons of the Year.

There was once a philosophy where everyone striving to better themselves as individuals would improve society as a whole.  It seems to day that it's become too commonplace to fill in the gaps in society for those that choose not to better their current status.  I'm going to look for the figures; I want to post some figures on what throwing away money for the "sake of humanity" has actually created.  There's a good book by William Easterly entitled the The Elusive Quest for Growth: Economists' Adventures and Misadventures in the Tropics.  He's a former worker at the World Bank and documents decades of throwing money away to Third-world countries, which has worsened their state.  It's an easy read and very informative.

AdamSmith - Just read your Time Mag critique.  You rock, AdamSmith!!!!!  Good work, good head on your shoulders.  Bush should have access to your review - he certainly falls into the category of a man who is changing the world for the better.  And he stands up for what he believes in, doesn't cower behind his powerful desk, or UNDER it like some Presidents we can remember.  Tee hee!!!  Sorry.  Anyway, please read my post, if I did it correctly.  Maybe I'll see you at the Ann Coulter speech tonight if you're going, and if I can find tickets before tonight.  Rock on, you brilliant person.      Susan Diamond
