All this is the Dems trying to be seen as middle of the road party instead of the extreme far left which we all know they really are. Our military has been systematically thinned down since the Clinton years and we are now seeing the fruits of that thinning.

The only reason this idea is flying is because Hilliary is gearing up to make a run up the hill for the presidential nomination of the Dems. I've said it before and I'll say it again; our country has turned into a bunch of ps2 playing, ipod listening lot of couch potatoes. Once the boby bags begin coming home once again we will hear more of the same bs we have now.

I'm afraid most of my fellow Americans disillusion me...they vex me. Such fickleness when it comes to bread-and-butter issues like defense

too true. Indeed they are wishey-washey. I think it is because a majority of people are

1. apathetic.

2. preoccupied

3. receive nothing but a steady drum-beat of anti-war negativity from the media and popular culture.

Americans have been told that we are a rotten imperialist power intent on subjugating the minority populaces of the world for too long. They forget that their country and their countrymen in uniform are a force for good in a very ugly world. We are the only country in the world who will spend so much in treasure and human lives to liberate a country desperately in need of democracy.

I think that people need to see their peers publicly support our foreign policy and military efforts abroad. It's human nature to flock to popular consent. Unfortunately, popular consent suggests that Iraq and preemptive action is a mistake. Forget about Iran.

Why, I think testing nukes in Iran is a wonderful idea! For Quality Assurance purposes, of course.

Navy
The Iranian navy has always been the smallest of the three services, having about 14,500 personnel in 1986, down from 30,000 in 1979. Throughout the 1970s, the role of the navy had expanded as Iran recognized the need to defend the region's vital sea-lanes. In 1977 the bulk of the fleet was shifted from Khorramshahr to the newly completed base at Bandar-e Abbas, the new naval headquarters. Bushehr was the other main base; smaller facilities were located at Khorramshahr, Khark Island, and Bandar-e Khomeini (formerly known as Bandar-e Shahpur). Bandar-e Anzelli (formerly known as Bandar-e Pahlavi) was the major training base and home of the small Caspian fleet, which consisted of a few patrol boats and a minesweeper. The naval base at Bandar Beheshti (formerly known as Chah Bahar) on the Gulf of Oman had been under construction since the late 1970s and in late 1987 still was not completed. Smaller facilities were located near the Strait of Hormuz.

The Zionist Entity and Iran

"The Protocols of the Elders of Zion," a text debunked many years ago as a fraud perpetrated by Czarist intelligence agents, continued to appear in Iran, not as a hoax, but as established fact. During 2004 many Iranian newspapers celebrated the one-hundredth anniversary of the publishing of the anti-Semitic "Protocols of the Elders of Zion."

Concurrent with the World Qods Day and 13th of Aban (November 4), the student movement in 2004 held a series of conferences titled "World Without the US" with the aim of triggering an anti-arrogance wave at the national and international levels. Mohammad Baqer Zol Qadr, Deputy Chief of the Revolutionary Guards said "When we talk about the world without America, we mean a world governed by peace and justice, and in which there will be no sign of insecurity, troop movements, and attacking other nations. Unfortunately, today America is the symbol of these deficiencies and distortions."

A central headquarters has been formed to organize provincial and international headquarters to simultaneously hold a series of programs on “World Without Zionism“ in Iran and abroad. These programs will be conducted in different forms, including holding nationwide conferences on the issue, Qods vigil ceremony and special programs during rallies marking the World Qods Day.

The Union for Islamic Associations of Students in order to address Iranian students, particularly the Muslim youth and young adults, launched a website on "World Without Zionism" in Persian, English and Arabic. Two books titled "World Without the US" and "World Without Zionism" were also published and distributed throughout Iran.

MINISTRY OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS OF THE RUSSIAN FEDERATION

PRESS RELEASE
Concerning Remarks of Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad at the "World

Without Zionism" Conference on October 26, 2005

2248-27-10-2005

On October 27 the Russian Foreign Ministry summoned Iranian Ambassador to Moscow Gholam-Reza Ansari, who was told the following.
The remarks of Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad at the Conference called "A World Without Zionism," including a call for "wiping Israel off the map," arouse concern. Propagandist rhetoric is counterindicative in such an explosive region as the Middle East. In addition, the comments made at the conference in no way aid normal, depoliticized work on resolving the already tense situation evolving around Iran's nuclear program.

We hope that Teheran will realize the full danger of confrontationist approaches and show political farsightedness and pragmatism. Moscow is waiting for the Iranian side's response to our concern.

Ironic stance for the Russians to take considering that they provided the technicians and engineers who built the nuclear sites Iran currently possesses.

Never trust a Russian. Russian contributions and input to any disarmament talks should fall on deaf ears.
