Heh it made the Dispatch.

Conservative Republicans take moderate DeWine to task

Quote
They don’t like Republican Sen. Mike DeWine’s votes on drilling in Alaska or $35 billion in cuts from the federal budget.

They don’t like his stance on immigration, federal education standards and gun control. His efforts to broker a compromise on the filibuster still makes them seethe.

And this was a room of Republicans.

But not just any Republicans — proudly conservative Republicans — for whom DeWine is just too moderate.

DeWine represents a lot of Lobbyists.

A most excellent job by the ladies and gentlemen of Columbus Townhall.
Congratulations.

Pierce was definitely the most polished candidate. He could use some of Smith's optimism. The David vs. Goliath story is well known and well received. Just don't step too far and come across as bitter.

Woof! Nice job gang.

Great Event.......most excellent job CTH.....yes EDUCATE,ENGAGE,EMPOWER was met Wednesday night. And as unbelievable as it may seem the Dispatch musta had a reporter there..... less less my "lyin eyes" deceive me, As a pretty good article appeared in Metro Section.Thank you Credo for posting it.Now..not being a reporter or journalist....I think I'd have used stock photos of the challengers in that newpaper piece.Everyone pretty much knows what DeWine looks like. Also I counted heads and I came up with 80 not counting candidates and moderator.Musta had a DeWine campaign person in the room.Tell you what......If this primary field gets narrowed down to one challenger,as I hope it will, ........can you see a followup "DEBATE" not forum between DeWine and that one strongest challenger ? BRING IT ON    OOOH  AH !!

The author of that Dispatch article should be ashamed.

He basically used the event as an opportunity to construct a debate that never was: that one being between four candidates: Mitchel, Pierce, Smith, and Team Dewine. Only he framed his debate by moderating it with his own Editorial Opinion using the weakest sound bites of the people who were actually there against a running commentary by a Dewine spokesman.

Whatever happened to reporting what actually took place at an event? What a disgrace to journalism.

And Peter, when you have the video, I'll give you my ftp info.

If/when a video is made available online I think it should be highly publicized so that those who weren't there can judge for themselves.

There have been some interesting observations offered here about the Meet the Candidates Night and it is obvious that some have pretty strong feelings for some of the candidates.
Now the challenge I will pose is for you to support those candidates. This support can come in many forms.
You can contact your local media and remind them that DeWine is being challenged in the Republican Primary and ask them to keep the public informed.
You can send out an email to all your friends arguing why you support a given candidate.
You can volunteer to help a candidate or ask where you can get a sign for your yard.
You can contribute to a candidate and urge your friends to do the same or even better, tell them you will be by on Monday to pick up the checks then mail them all at once.
Or, you can take the easy way out and let the Ohio GOP decide who should be our next Senator.
