Yes....two major news media Icons visited Central Ohio in the past 2 days......Ann Coulter speaking as guests of the Young RepublicansClub of Dennison University and Eleanor Clift as joint guests of 5th 3rd Bank and WOSU speaking at Ohio Dominican University,...BOTH...shook the halls of Academia....one with "THUNDER" and the other with "SPIN".Swasey Chapel hosting Coulter and Matesich Theatre in Erskine Hall featuring Clift both packed in 800 people plus or minus. While Coulter's audience was an eclectic mix of young and old, left and right, student and citizen...it did provide the environment for fire works and Coulter reached into the "heavens" of her mind and brought down the "Thunder".Meanwell,at ODU, Eleanor, less challenged.... spun to a homogenous audience of Democratic geriatrics lamenting their political impotence and bemoaning the "sky-is-falling" fatalism endemic to Democrats.
"CONTEMPLARE ET CONTEMPLATA ALIIS TRADERE" the motto on the seal of Ohio Dominican University and translated in english on the facade to Erskine Hall"TO CONTEMPLATE TRUTH and to SHARE the FRUITS of CONTEMPLATION"seemed out of place with the spin from a consumate DC Beltway Insider......and with the raw honesty that emoted from the lips of Ms Coulter............. Liberal perspective and Conservative perspective standing in stark contrast to each other.

Promotion does fill seats. But in this case, I would have to say that their celebrity status filled seats. 40 tickets flew out of Dan's hand in less than 4 days because of name recognition, not because of promotion.

However...the issue put forth on filling the seats at our forum was "charging" money for the tickets. My contention ..if you can't give'm away(tickets) how do you think charging ...say $5 / ticket will fill the seats?Who pays for the salesmen needed to market/sell tickets?

Both Coulter/Clift events were promoted....I learned of Clift on WOSU/Fred Endrle's Openline as Eleanor was a guest for an Hour.

With Ann Coulter, why do we kiss the hand that slaps us?
Ann Coulter is smart. She's witty. She thinks quickly on her feet.
But after hearing her speak Wednesday at Western Michigan University, I found she's not very thoughtful and not very nice.
Put her conservative political agenda aside. What took me aback was the way Coulter treated audience members during the question-and-answer session. The audience was respectful; the questions, even from those who obviously disagreed with Coulter, were heartfelt. Coulter, on the other hand, referred to one person as ``Missy'' and another as ``Babycakes.'' She pronounced one question to be so silly that she hooted the questioner must be majoring in engineering rather than history -- and the question was from a fellow Republican.
In short, Coulter behaved a lot like a girl who's queen bee of her sixth-grade class, right down to the contemptuous put-downs, snotty attitude and disdainful toss of blond hair. That's not attractive in an 11-year-old, much less a 40-something woman.
Some defend Coulter's behavior as part of her shtick. One admirer Wednesday even compared Coulter to Jon Stewart of ``The Daily Show.''

My many years of experience of dealing with the numerous alleged central ohio peace groups has taught me that. These little mean spirited punks can say & do whatever it's they want yet when you return the favor they cry like little 3 graders on the playground.
Have you ever noticed how things change quickly when a video camera that isn't one of theirs is turned on them? When someone else other than one of their welfare checked friends that wears army surplus clothing (that hasn't served a day in their short life in Uncle Sam's greatest institution of all our armed forces) is prepared to support their troops yet is demonized for utilizing their 1st Amendment Right.
I guess if you can't stand the heat stay out of the kitchen. I for one wasn't disappointed in the Ann experience it was a good time.
