Want to know what is wrong with your country....

Gore-Backed Car Firm Gets Large U.S. Loan

A tiny car company backed by former Vice President Al Gore has just gotten a $529 million U.S. government loan to help build a hybrid sports car in Finland that will sell for about $89,000.

http://online.wsj.com/article/SB125383160812639013.html?mod=WSJ_hpp_MIDDLTopStories

We borrow money from the Chinese, that will be paid by future generations of U.S. citizens, so we can provide a loan to a politically well connected company, because they did not likely qualify for a commercially viable loan, so expensive cars that Americans cannot afford, will be constructed in a foreign country.

When the entire U.S. economy fails, and the barbarians are at the gate, I hope you are prepared to defend your family.

I'm not finding any stock symbol or SEC statements. If this was a good company that needed cash, the should go public. But reading the press releases are interesting.

How is this a Gore backed company? I don't see his name in the list of investors. Which one of these is Gore?

I am surprised the NYT allowed the truth to be printed on their pages.  They must be hurting over there at the Times...look where the author is from...

A Growing Disaster

By RUSSELL HARDING

...Allowing a higher percentage of ethanol in gasoline will not make us less dependent on such foreign energy sources. It will not help the environment. It will not lower consumer prices. And it will result in the poor of the world having less to eat. Instead of raising federal mandates on ethanol, Congress and the Obama administration should end them entirely.

Never would have predicted this..nope..never in a million years.

Bad year for biofuel ends on a dour note

By SEAN MURPHY, Associated Press

OKLAHOMA CITY – An alternative fuel for diesel engines is off to a shaky start this year though it emits fewer pollutants and cuts down on petroleum use because it's made from environmentally friendly waste and vegetable oil.

A federal tax credit that provided makers of biodiesel $1 for every gallon expired Friday. As a result, some U.S. producers say they will shut down without the government subsidy.

..This summer a federal jury found that Cello Energy, a next-generation biofuel company that specialized in plants-to-fuel technology, had defrauded investors. That is expected to leave the Environmental Protection Agency far short of the millions of gallons of biofuel it had planned to blend into traditional fuel this year.

VeraSun, the country's second largest ethanol producer, filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in October and its assets sold. Other ethanol refineries were swept up for pennies on the dollar.

..And the Department of Energy announced last month that next-generation biofuels would get more than $600 million in federal funding.

This is why I am against the tax deal...and why all conservatives should be against it.  Let's wait until January so the adults can craft real tax legislation with no pork...and dare the socialists to fight it.

Ethanol Subsidies: $10 A Gallon And $14 Million Per Job Created

By JED GRAHAM, INVESTOR'S BUSINESS DAILY

Here's the bottom line for the ethanol tax credits additive to the White House-GOP tax compromise:

• $6 billion in subsidies for 2011.

• $10 per extra gallon of ethanol.

• $14 million per extra job.

• $1.2 billion to attract one extra Senate vote.

In a season of giving in Washington, the ethanol lobby may come away with even more than it hoped for and its ardent defenders sought.
