Dain,

This issue is larger than Republican or Libertarian, this is about the future of our country not the differences of political parties. Our message needs to be unified not of just a few individuals while the remaining individuals stand off to the side snickering at those who are attempting to make a difference.

Folks unless something happens quickly the party will be over and then who will everyone blame? Not those of us who tried to make the difference.

Well said Tweet.

ILLEGAL immigration is threatening our very way of life, including but not limited to our culture, healthcare, crime, and the political system itself. Give illegals a vote, equal to yours, through amnesty, and they will vote a carbon tax on you, their relatively rich neighbor, so fast it will make your head spin. Game over as they say.

The real AdamSmithing effect will be that more and more disenfranchised poor will use their political clout to pass an ever increasing socialized agenda on the rest of us. Free-market solutions to many of our problems won't even see the light of day.

This is truly a group of (illegal) immigrants who have entered the country without any desire to become citizens, they simply want to take what is yours for their own.  California is lost already, and my friend Vince the Fox might as well haul his backside out of the desert and get up here with the rest of us who still care about preserving the rule of law.

Oh, I agree that it SHOULDN'T be about political philosophy, but unfortunately many people allow their ideology to do their thinking.  I know this better than most people...I'm surrounded by such people on a daily basis.

What I was saying is pretty simple:  This is SUCH an important issue, I'd be willing to support issues I'm less enthusiastic about IF we could show a united front to the world on immigration policy.  Unfortunately, the Right is NOT united on illegal immigration (you have only to examine Senate voting to see my point).

The senate vote tells a larger tale than that of immigration.

We need open borders!  There are crimes that Americans simply won't commit![/size]

Gang crackdown raises touchy issue
Questioning suspects' immigration status has been taboo for L.A. police. But the results of jail screenings revive calls to relax that policy.
By Patrick McGreevy, Times Staff Writer
March 10, 2007

A spot check by federal agents has identified 59 street gang members in Southern California jails who are illegal immigrants subject to deportation, sparking a debate about the role of border enforcement in the region's battle against violent gangs.

The initial identification of deportable gang members came during a first-of-its-kind screening of a portion of jail inmates last month.

The review will continue, and officials expect during the first year to identify 700 to 800 gang members who are illegal immigrants, according to Jim Hayes, director of the Los Angeles field office for U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

The results so far have some officials convinced that border enforcement needs to be a big part of combating the gang problem.

"We play a vital role with respect to foreign nationals who are in gangs here," Hayes said.

The focus on immigration status comes as the city of Los Angeles is calling on federal agencies to help it crack down in response to last year's 15.7% increase in gang crime.

I think with proper care, protocol, and moderation, my idea could work. [...]You never know until you try.

If I can get CTH's libertarians to play ball on issues like this, I'll be a lot more likely to more actively support issues like tax reform, global warming, and educational reform.
So let's pretend that the website infrastructure is there... I've got some implementation questions:
  • How will you promote the idea?
  • How will you get others to report illegals?
  • How will you be sure that they are in fact illegals so this doesn't become a good ol' fashioned witch hunt?
  • How will you encourage others to visit the site to see which businesses they shouldn't patronize?
In my opinion, good ideas abound, but that isn't enough. A critical mass of people (more than the few on this website) need to get behind the idea. Before that can happen, they have to become aware of the idea and feel that it's something that other people will be a part of (so they don't feel like they're wasting their time).

I'm not sure we have the resources for that. Don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to discredit the idea in a subtle manner; these are honest questions... I'm trying to understand how we can do this given the resources we have.

Fair questions.

If you look into many businesses, they "evolve."  They start small, people gradually become familiar with the place, they expand, and pretty soon you've got a multinational corporation on your hands.  The point is that resources don't have to be "front-loaded."  We'll pay as we go, in a sense, and if the idea doesn't fly then no big loss of time or $.

1)    How do we get people to participate?  Well, word of mouth initially.  Also, I notice a block on new members...that will have to go.   I'm guessing people are really frustrated by this situation, and we won't want for participants...at least eventually.  Start-up will be slow, of course.

2)    As for witch-hunt, that isn't my concern.  We have whole cities refusing to cooperate with the Feds/INS...this is a crisis, in my view.  And the groundrules will minimize hysteria:  Where did you see SUPPOSED immigrants.  WHY do you suspect they are immigrants?  Yes, people will be encouraged to state the name of the company and the reason for their "report."  The moderator will cleanse posts of anything libelous...no direct accusations of hiring illegals (we won't know that), and no name-callling.  Just some anticeptic sunlight on a nasty bit of shady business!

3)    My hope?  That this pilot project will draw the attention of both the INS and organizations like FAIR.  Just as AdamSmith hopes his global warming project will...well...AdamSmith, so I'm hoping that CTH can blaze the trail and become a cyberspace version of the Minute Men.  If it works at all, this could easily be replicated in any American city.

I'm sure there are cetain people at the radio station level who can help us w/some local air time with this. When real national (WOSU's fake deal or Joke Reilly at 610 doesn't count) talk radio gets ahold of this it'll be a different situation.

The starting show slots would be 1-6 am to 9 am slots, at least 2-4 -9 am to noon slots, at least 2-noon to 3 pm time slots, and 2-3 pm to 6 pm slot. These would also be live time slots not chumpy replays.

Six illegal immigrants arrested at Qualcomm

San Diego: L.A. Times

Six undocumented Mexican immigrants were arrested today by U.S. Border Patrol agents at Qualcomm Stadium, after a report that they were stealing food and water meant for evacuees, according to spokesman Damon Foreman.

San Diego police responded to a call about alleged theft from the evacuation center and encountered six people in a van who didn't speak English and didn't have California driver's licenses, Foreman said. The police officers called the Border Patrol, who arrived at the stadium and made the arrests, he said. Foreman said the immigrants admitted they were Mexican citizens and that they were stealing.

Border Patrol agents are not looking for illegal immigrants at the center but will continue responding to police calls for assistance.

"We are not in any means at Qualcomm for enforcement capacity," he said. "We are not there to take advantage of a situation."

Foreman said the agents have been helping in the evacuation and rescue effort in addition to carrying out their main duties.

"We are dedicated to our primary mission to securing our borders," he said.

Violent Mexican Smugglers Threaten U.S. Forests

The National Forest Service has been forced to team up with the U.S. Border Patrol to protect nature-loving hikers from being victimized by violent drug traffickers and alien smugglers that use the pristine areas to enter the country from Mexico.

Violent activities have escalated so much in the Coronado National Forest that federal officers originally sworn in to protect the lush landscape and keep its visitors safe from natural danger and the wild habitat, have been forced to deal with illegal immigration.

Read Our Lips: NO New Amnesty!
By John Lillpop  Thursday, October 25, 2007

To Harry Reid, most Democrats, all RINOs, and President George Bush:

We the people understand that the U.S. Senate is considering yet another idiotic attempt to grant amnesty to upwards of 38 million illegal aliens who have invaded the sovereign nation known as the United States.

With all due respect to the Majority Leader and other pro-amnesty colleagues, what part of NO NEW AMNESTY! do you not understand?

For the benefit of slow learners and those in denial, let us reiterate why the majority of Americans everywhere, from all political persuasions, are against amnesty for the criminals who have invaded America:

In short, we the people are:

FED UP with plans to merge the United States into a North American alliance with Canada and Mexico. Such a plan would destroy American sovereignty and is totally unacceptable.

FED UP with the refusal of the federal government to secure our borders at time of war.

FED UP when armed Mexicans illegally cross our borders and assault Americans, yet our government takes no action, and refuses to even protest.

FED UP when Americans defending the U.S. from drug smuggling illegal aliens are sent to federal prison, while invading criminals are to be forgiven via amnesty for violating our borders and laws.

FED UP with the fact that upwards of 38 million illegal aliens are currently in America, and cost taxpayers hundreds of billions of dollars every year.

FED UP with a president who orders 160,000 young Americans into harm’s way thousands of miles from home, but who refuses to secure America.

FED UP with politicians who refuse to enforce immigration laws and who claim it is “impossible” to deport criminals here illegally.

FED UP with illegal aliens who can not and/or will not speak English.

FED UP with taxpayer dollars being wasted to print documents in foreign languages.

FED UP with illegal aliens who dump their medical bills on the backs of U.S. taxpayers, but who send $30-40 billion a year back to Mexico each year.

<>

Please do not underestimate the dissatisfaction and rage swelling in the hearts of patriotic Americans on this vital issue.

We the people DEMAND our great country back!

We only average about 4 drop houses a week now
So we might "ONLY" get around 1-2 million Illegals this year.

21 migrants, 3 smuggling suspects at drop house

by Sherry Anne Rubiano - Jun. 6, 2009 11:31 AM
The Arizona Republic

Twenty-one suspected undocumented immigrants being held against their will were found at a Phoenix drop house Friday evening, police said.

Officers responded to a call near 83rd Avenue and Indian School Road around 7 p.m., said Sgt. Tommy Thompson, a spokesman with the Phoenix Police Department.

A SWAT team arrived at the location and cleared the house, Thompson said.

The immigrants were placed in the custody of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

Three people - two adults and one juvenile - were suspected of human smuggling, according to the Department of Public Safety.

The two adults were booked into the Fourth Avenue Jail, and the juvenile was likely placed in juvenile detention, DPS authorities said.
