Speaker Pelosi passed a minimum wage increase through the House of Representatives which her party controls while exempting Starkist Tuna, headquartered in her district. Her family also reportedly has a sizable stake in the tuna company.

Pelosi knows how to stick it to you while bringing home the bacon to the people who put her in office. Take a backseat Senator Byrd, this chick has come home to roost!

She has balls of absolute steel to attempt this in her first 100 hours in office. That is what I call tough. Not like the mamby-pamby wussies Ohio had in Taft, Voinovich, and whats-his-name.

You can't leave out the "fact" that Pelosi's husband owns 17 million shares (dollars?)  of Starkist stock, at least according several conservative blogs and Rush Limbaugh. If it's true, it's bad.

Interesting you bring that up. I caught 2 minutes of a senate debate between Boxer and Vitter about Senate Ethics Reform. Boxer wants to exclude current senators, Vitter has an amendment to include everyone and Boxer is fighting the amendment tooth and nail.

How can you have ethics reform if you exclude current politicians?

 

Sure you can have plenty of reform as long as it doesn't affect the Dems lol

It cracks me up that you see the same old Democrat faces running the show that were there before 1995.

The GOP has an opportunity.  Let's see if they can do what's necessary.

Thanks for the update on this issue, gentlemen.  

A FEDERAL minimum wage increase....that specifically excludes certain constituents of the new Speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosi???  

And an ethics law for Senators....that specifically excludes all current Senators??? (This might help Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid out of a little problem with an unusual land deal he was involved in, for example.  A little like a preemptive pardon, I believe.)

All I can say is that Nancy Pelosi and the new Democratic leadership have really rolled up their sleeves in order to deliver the most ethical and transparent Congress in history.  (I believe that is exactly what was promised just weeks ago. :blink: )

I believe Nancy had campaigned saying that it "might take a woman to "clean up the House".  

It appears that the Democratic idea of housecleaning is to sweep everything under the rug! <_<   (It must be nice to have the major media look the other way whenever necessary.)

(NOTE TO SELF:  The mainstream media is not a part of the problem....they are the problem.)
