Sen. Landrieu Declines to Say Where Constitution Authorizes Congress to Force Americans to Buy Health Insurance, Saying She'll Let 'Constitutional Lawyers on Our Staff' Handle That
Friday, December 11, 2009
By Nicholas Ballasy, Video Reporter
Capitol Hill (CNSNews.com) – Sen. Mary Landrieu (D-La.) told CNSNews.com she would leave it up to the “constitutional lawyers” to explain exactly where Congress gets the constitutional authority to force Americans to buy health insurance, the central mandate in both the Senate and House health care bills.
Landrieu, in her second term as a U.S. senator, responded to a question from CNSNews.com at a press conference about the effect health care reform would have on small businesses. Sens. Blanche Lincoln (D-Ark.) and Debbie Stabenow (D-Mich.) joined Landrieu at the press conference.
CNSNews.com asked Landrieu: “You mentioned that there will be no employer mandate [in the Senate health care bill] but there is an individual mandate, and several members of Congress have said that an individual mandate is unconstitutional. What part of the Constitution do you think gives Congress the authority to mandate that individuals have to purchase health insurance?”
Landrieu said: “Well, we’re very lucky as members of the Senate to have constitutional lawyers on our staff, so I’ll let them answer that.”

Jimmy Carter issues a fake apology for his 70+ years of Jew hatred. Oh...and his greasy grandson is running for office in district that has a significant Jewish population.
A mere coincidence dontchya know.

Fannie, Freddie CEOs May Receive $6 Million for 2009
By Jody Shenn
Dec. 24 (Bloomberg) -- Fannie Mae Chief Executive Officer Michael Williams and Freddie Mac CEO Charles Haldeman Jr. are each eligible for compensation of as much as $6 million this year, the companies said today in regulatory filings.
Pay at the mortgage-finance companies, which were seized by the U.S. in September 2008, added to debate over salaries for executives at companies dependent on government bailouts. Compensation must be sufficiently high to “attract and retain” top talent, their regulator, the Federal Housing Finance Agency, said in a statement.

This bimbo must feel like an idiot on at least two counts:
1) she got taken by a charlatan who is obviously smarter than she is (but for some reason, we saw it coming a mile away) and
2) she is obviously inferior (in so many ways) to the one she calls a "tabloid-magazine cover girl." Sarah Palin is one hundred times the woman she is, in terms of intelligence, kindness, accomplishment, character, (the list is virtually endless).
Perhaps now she will realize that if she gets her information from NPR, NYT, and CNN, she literally knows less than nothing. Then again, she probably isn't that smart.

MoveOn.org: Deficit Hawks [Daniel Foster]
A reader points to this ad from MoveOn.org, which was supposed to run in the 2004 Superbowl, but was rejected by CBS. It shows young children working blue-collar jobs to "pay for" President Bush's $1 trillion deficit.

What is the controversy? I agree with Rahm; liberals ARE retarded!
Rahm's apology accepted, at last
The Special Olympics is disputing the White House claim that its chairman, Tim Shriver, accepted Rahm Emanuel's apology for calling liberals "retarded."

But I am not sure that Katrina was the best thing for New Orleans students, however..
Duncan: Katrina was good for New Orleans schools
Education Secretary Arne Duncan said Sunday that 2005's Hurricane Katrina was "the best thing that happened to the education system in New Orleans," since it forced the failing school system to start over from scratch.

75% Are Angry At Government’s Current Policies
Voters are madder than ever at the current policies of the federal government.
A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey shows that 75% of likely voters now say they are at least somewhat angry at the government’s current policies, up four points from late November and up nine points since September. The overall figures include 45% who are Very Angry, also a nine-point increase since September.
Just 19% now say they’re not very or not at all angry at the government’s policies, down eight points from the previous survey and down 11 from September. That 19% includes only eight percent (8%) who say they’re not angry at all and 11% who are not very angry.

Hey, The Shadow is angry at the government's policies. So what. The question is who/what is the target of this anger. Is it the policies or the failure to achieve anything? And if nothing has been achieved we all know why (even if some would like to deny it).

I have heard some really stupid liberal ideas but this one is in the top three. Thus, it gets a Hall of Fame trophy..
‘Fairness’ in Education
Thomas Sowell
At a Berkeley high school, “equality” means fewer science teachers.
A recent flap in a Berkeley high school reveals what a farce “fairness” can be. Because this is ultra-liberal Berkeley, perhaps we should not be surprised that a proposal has been made to eliminate four jobs as science teachers and use the money saved for programs to help low achievers.
In Berkeley, as in many other communities across the country, black and Latino students are not performing as well as Asian and white students. In fact, the racial gap in academic achievement at Berkeley High School is the highest in California — no doubt a special source of embarrassment in politically correct Berkeley.
According to the principal, “Our community at Berkeley High School has failed the African Americans.” Therefore “We need to bring everybody up — that’s what this plan is about.”
Surely no one, not even in Berkeley, seriously believes that you will “bring everybody up” by eliminating science teachers. This is a proposal to redistribute money from science to social work, by providing every student with advisers on note-taking, time management, and other learning skills.

The headline says it all..
Larry Summers: Almost All Economists Believe More Taxes Fuels Job Growth
Fox Business Contributors criticize White House's grasp of economics.
By Anthony Kang
Business & Media Institute
President Obama continuously tries to portray himself as a friend to the little-man, middle class and small business. Hence his attacks on “fat cats” who “just don’t get it,” while labeling the extravagant bonuses as “obscene,” and “the height of irresponsibility.”
Meanwhile, members of his administration, in defending a sweeping small-business aid program Obama announced in his State of the Union, give reason to wonder if they really understand how to help small business.

I guess he's right in a Keynesian view of things and he wouldn't bother mentioning the waste involved or the fact that you could equally say:

This is all happening so fast. Each time I suggest a "top three" candidate, Biden or 0bambi starts flapping their lips.
Joe Biden told Larry King last night:
"I am very optimistic about — about Iraq. I mean, this could be one of the great achievements of this administration."
http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/washington/2010/02/joe-biden-update-larry-king-iraq-obama-sarah-palin.html
UPDATE:
Baghdad Bob defends Biden. The buffoonery is unbelievable.
