Did you know Nancy Pelosi was a tea-partier? That's funny..
Wake Up, Media, Pelosi's Lying About Tea Parties
By Dan Gainor
- FOXNews.com
Our Speaker of the House has suddenly changed her tune about tea parties. So why won't the media call her on it?
Nancy Pelosi is lying. OK, maybe that’s not a revelation. As a politician, the mere fact that she continues to breathe means she’s lying at least some of the time. You can tell politicians are lying in the United States when they have a letter after their name such as “D,” “R” or “I.”
But Feb. 28 brought out a falsehood that would impress even tall tale-telling fishermen. House Speaker Nancy Graceless had the audacity to tell ABC’s Elizabeth Vargas that she has common ground with the tea party movement.
This from the very same politician who only recently bashed tea partiers for “carrying swastikas and symbols like that to a town meeting on health care.” Then she claimed the tea parties were “Astroturf” or phony grassroots. Now she’s trying to talk herself out of that one by claiming what they do “in some respects it is” Astroturf.
Her new tune is to blame it on those evil Republicans, claiming “the Republican Party directs a lot of what the Tea Party does, but not everybody in the Tea Party takes direction from the Republican Party.”
“But, you know, we share some of the views of the Tea Partiers in terms of the role of special interest in Washington, D.C., as – it just has to stop,” Pelosi lied. Yes, lied. When politicians lie and there’s a “D” after their names, the news media are as silent as former Democrat presidential candidate John Edwards was about his affairs and love child.

Classic Steyn..read the whole thing.
Welcome to Deemocracy
If you’re sick of talking about health care, you’d better move to Tahiti now.
On Thursday, the California Occupational Safety and Health Standards Board voted to set up a committee to examine whether condoms should be required on all pornographic film shoots within the Golden State.
California has run out of money, but it hasn’t yet run out of things to regulate.

"Jackpot, brother." When has a democrat in the last 100 years EVER worried about the Constitution?
Congressman: 'I Don’t Worry About the Constitution' on Health Care Overhaul
FOXNews.com
Confronted by an angry Tea Partier with a camera Thursday, an Illinois congressman said in front of several constituents at a town hall that he doesn't care whether the new health care law violates the Constitution, as some critics have claimed.
In a video posted on YouTube, Adam Sharp of the St. Louis Tea Party asked Rep. Phil Hare which part of the Constitution authorizes the government to mandate that all Americans buy a private product such as health insurance. The Illinois Democrat replied, "I don't worry about the Constitution on this."
"Jackpot, brother," Sharp said.

This article reminds me of a conversation I had with a science professor a few years back. Being an expert on EVERYTHING, he was convinced that science funding was suffering under GWB. I told him that GWB increased science funding over BJ Clinton. Not only did he refuse to believe it, he refused to look it up with three mouse clicks.
In addition, I told him, where in the Constitution does science funding fall? He said, smugly, of course it is in the Constitution!..under life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness!
Since he was impervious to facts and to history...I simply hung my head and walked away.
There’s no IQ test for serving in Congress
FRANK MIELE
..Rep. Phil Hare, D-Ill., was asked at a recent townhall meeting which part of the Constitution authorizes the government to require Americans to buy health-care insurance. Instead of just giving the kind of rambling meaningless answer that a skilled politician such as Barack Obama would offer, Hare blurted out “I don’t worry about the Constitution on this.”
When asked about his oath to “support and defend the Constitution” and to “bear true faith and allegiance to the same,” Hare apparently got bewildered about which Constitution the questioner was talking about.
“I believe it says we have the right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness,” Hare sputtered.

You don't pay any attention to questions from your critics. So, I know this is pointless.
But there are no links to any documentation here.
As I understand it, Clinton's budget proposals always included big hikes for science research spending.
Congress always knocked the amounts down.
But still, measuring by real per capita GDP Clinton's spending on science was more than GWBs.
Can you supply some data to show that I'm wrong?

Kultursmog in Big Sky Country
By Happy Feder
Just because you're an aspiring, frustrated liberal administrator of a tiny college in a tiny city in the middle of the vast, thinly populated (less than a million) state of Montana doesn't mean you can't play like the big boys at prestigious colleges and universities when it comes to bullying people with opposing political opinions, or even shoving around people who present factual knowledge you are uncomfortable with.
Last week in my home town, Helena's Carroll College President Thomas Trebon and his faithful hive of a half dozen carefully selected V.P.'s, perhaps envious of University of Ottawa's provost François Houle's efforts to nix Ann Coulter's speech, maneuvered a last minute cancellation of a public speech and Q&A session on the highly provocative and potentially mayhem-inducing subject of the…. U.S. Constitution! No doubt President Trebon will highlight this noble community service when applying for a position at a larger institute of higher learning.

This is so dumb that only a Democrat could believe it...
Jackson Lee says she mistakenly voted for pay hike
The frantic, multi-tasking environment of Capitol Hill can sometimes trip up members of Congress who are rushing from a congressional hearing or an office meeting with constituents to the House floor to cast a vote as time runs out on the roll call.
That's what apparently happened recently to Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee, D-Houston, a veteran member of Congress who maintains a whirlwind schedule in the nation's capital.
The lawmaker rushed from a meeting to the House floor on April 27 to cast a vote on a bill providing that "members of Congress shall not receive a cost of living adjustment in pay during fiscal year 2011," says spokeswoman Pamela Brogan.

If this was just an ordinary story about (yet another) liberal lying about his record, it would merely be the "Democrats culture of corruption" thread. Instead, the NYT is a actually doing its job and
investigating
a democrat and finding out more dirt. That, and seeing the slime line up behind him to defend him...makes this "hall of fame" material.
Blumenthal Scandal: A New Version of the Suffering Wife
Jonathan Tobin
Connecticut’s Democratic Senate candidate Richard Blumenthal’s news conference in which he attempted to defuse the scandal over his lies about his military service provided a new version of the “suffering wife” who routinely stands by her husband as he owns up to misdeeds.
But instead of having his spouse stand painfully by him as he walked back what he now describes as “a few misplaced words,” Blumenthal had a chorus line of veterans behind him at the press conference that took place at the West Hartford Veterans of Foreign Wars hall. And rather than keep silent as he at first spoke at length touting his record and then briefly owned up to the problem, the veterans in attendance cheered Blumenthal’s statement and frequently punctuated it with applause and Marine chants.
The brief press conference that Blumenthal ended abruptly was mostly devoted to praise of his own actions in which he claimed that his military service was voluntary. His statement admitting guilt was as follows: “On a few occasions I have misspoken about my service and I take full responsibility. I will not let anyone take a few misplaced words and impugn my record of service to our country.” He gave no reason for his lies about having been in Vietnam and offered no apology. And his friends behind him — who might otherwise be expected to take a dim view of those who falsely claim war-veteran status — demanded none. But the proposition that this group of veterans is representative of others around the state is yet to be proved.
This performance shows that Blumenthal’s intention is to stay in the Senate race and that he hopes the storm will blow over. However, as the New York Times story that blew the lid off of his lies shows, this one item may be the tip of the iceberg when it comes to Blumenthal’s record. As the Times reported, Blumenthal appears to have misled journalists about other aspects of his biography.

You have to be some special kind of stupid (or a Democrat) to say/believe something like this:
The sages in Congress continue to claim that these payments for not working will lead to more work. Representative Jim McDermott recently declared on the House floor that jobless payments are
"one of the most effective forms of economic stimulus" because "every unemployment dollar spent returns $1.64 of economic benefits."
So let's lay off everybody, pay them for not working, and watch the economy really boom. Where do they teach this stuff?

By the way, where does the government get the money to fund all these immensely useful programs?
According to a Fox News poll earlier this year, 65 per cent of Americans understand that the government gets its money from taxpayers, but 24 per cent think the government has “plenty of its own money without using taxpayer dollars.”
You can hardly blame them for getting that impression in an age in which there is almost nothing the state won’t pay for.

psst,
Mr. President
Harvard Study: More Government Spending Means Fewer Jobs
Quote
What happens when a state is lucky enough to have one of their Senators ascend to one of the three most powerful committee chairmanships? According to a new study by three Harvard Business School the average state then experiences a 40 to 50 percent increase in earmark spending (the figure is a smaller 20% for powerful House committees). So this new government spending is then a boon to the state right? The public spending stimulates economic growth right? Wrong. Turns out, increased federal spending is connected with a decrease in corporate capital expenditures and employment.
