Imaginary headlines: Violence erupts as Angry Protesters Kill Employee

John Doe, an employee at XYZ, was mysteriously shot while driving to work yesterday. Angry protesters outside the facility celebrated, and vow to keep up the protest.  Protesters, wearing threatening messages on their tee-shirts, claim that “he deserved to die,” and show no remorse. People trying to enter the facility are spit upon, stoned, and subjected to verbal abuse and threats. Police were eventually called in to provide safe passage for consumers, suppliers, and employees into the building. Eventually the facility is forced to close for financial reasons. The protesters celebrate their victory, while society mourns another loss.

While this could be describing an Abortion Clinic protest, it could just as easily be a Labor strike.
The killed worker could be Eddie York, the heavy-equipment operator who was shot to death outside the Ruffner Mine in Slab Fork, W.Va in July 1993. The closed facility could be Eastern Airlines, and the verbal abuse could be “Scab.” The tee-shirts sported “a hand holding a gun and the slogan "Scab Hunter." “
While the shooting of Dr. Barnett Slepian was scattered over the Newspaper headlines and made the lead story of many nightly and Sunday news shows, the murder of Eddie York went virtually unreported. Violence is violence, and should be treated as such regardless of the perpetrating organization, and the media should report is as such.
