Sorry, I had no grant money to prove that the USA general fund's nation debt is a cause of man made global warming. I just threw this together with some simple math from sources I could easily find on the internet.
If one dollar of GDP creates a carbon footprint, then I assume that one dollar of debt will create an additional and equal carbon footprint. I also assume Obama's goal to reduce carbon emmisions by 20% is successful before we repay the debt.
In 2007, GDP was $14.11 trillion.
In 2007, CO2 equivalent output was 7.3 Trillion Metric Tons.
In terms of today's $11.2 trillion general fund debt, the carbon dioxide equivalent is 4.63 trillion tons, AFTER Obama's 20% reduction that is supposedly created with green technology jobs.
Is it possible to construct an argument that proves this:
Borrowing money for creation of "green" jobs is actually counter productive because the new green economy will require us to produce extra CO2 for debt service... and this increase in CO2 for debt service is greater than the greenhouse gas reduction that is anticipated from these green economy jobs.

How does this sound?
"You can't get
green
by going
red
"
I've talked to 2 friends about this idea, and they are politely encouraging. I can't tell if they understand my train of thought or not, because maybe they don't want to hurt my feelings. I'll probably be disregarded as a nut case, but I also sent a short message to Boehner.
But basically, I will use the government's numbers and projections to prove that the national debt has a carbon footprint, and this carbon footprint is so big that borrowing more money for a "Green Economy" will explode the CO2 emissions, and ultimately not reduce anything.
The debt is so huge, I think it will be a good point to consider. I think you can calculate the carbon footprint of the interest payments on the debt. I think the debt principle has a carbon footprint. I think by the year 2020 (the projected date Obama says out emissions will be reduced by 20%) the carbon footprint of our debt will easily surpass the sum of all green efforts that will be made in the Obama administration.
I still need to do the math and demonstrate this based on the government's own projections... once I find them. I don't believe in man-made climate change, but I think this argument can put the matter of opinion out of relevance. We can assume that man-made climate change is real and still defeat the effort to build a green economy.

I like it.
I like the alternative reading of your title too: You can't get green by going red (Communism)
I don't have the data to prove it, but my guess is that communist countries are the filthiest places on the face of the planet.

Yes, the double meaning (debt and communism) fits nicely for the word "red." I'm happy with the way that sounds.
I figure if the man-made climate change can be used as an excuse for idiots to mandate how and when and what I can use to wipe my ass, then why can't the carbon footprint of the national debt be used to shove this garbage right back up their asses? Global warming is all lies anyway, so why not "recycle" the lies to shape my agenda of a balanced budget behind the cover of hysteria generated by this kookburger deluxe?
This is going to take me some time to get complete, but I'll be interested to see how this idea adds up. I hope it takes life, somehow.

When I first saw it, I though of the red-state/blue-state thing... doubtless, libs will see it as "red-state." Can't go green by going red-state.

I can only wish this was true.
