I thought that with the Democrats winning some races in 2006, we could flush the system and rebuild for 2010, but that doesn't appear to be the case.
Kevin DeWine is at the helm of the ORP
Mike DeWine is running for Attorney General
Jon Husted is running for Secretary of State
Many Republican/Conservatives voted for the establishment candidate in 2006 and 2008 out of fear of the Democrats, only to see them lose. It's time to send a message to the party elites.
Ohio GOP Alternates:
Attorney General
Do we really want to set Mike DeWine up for a run for Ohio Governor one day?
David Yost
- Delaware County Prosecutor
http://www.co.delaware.oh.us/Prosecutor/bio.htm
Secretary of State
Jon Husted, Ohio Carpetbagger in Chief
Husted, a self-admitted carpetbagger, lives in Upper Arlington while supposedly representing constituents in the Dayton area. If you take a look at his website, only 40% of the state house supports him and only half of the state senate. My State Senator, Jim Hughes, doesn't support him and I know Jim's constituents trust him much more than Jon's do.
I'm interested to see who runs in the primary so that we don't keeping donning these establishment candidates who will eventually take over the Ohio GOP and run it like Bob Bennett.

Is this who you want for Secretary of State? Don't worry, the ORP couldn't care less about your opinion.

ODP camps out at Husted's "home"; nobody's there
So, the ODP apparently decided to have some fun with GOP SoS candidate/State Senator Jon Husted's "residency" challenge. They sent an ODP staffer (who apparently has the worst job description imaginable) to picket his house in the district with a sign that read "Jon Husted, if you can READ this sign you'd be HOME by now."
Husted's voting residence at his Kettering house in the district has been challenged because he and his wife maintain a residence in Columbus where they both work. Husted's driver license, I believe, listed his Columbus address, and an investigation by the Montgomery County Board of Elections uncovered that no water had been used in the house in over two months, despite Husted's claim of regularly returning to the house.

Is anyone concerned about DeWine's and Kasich's history with the 2nd Amendment?

From NY-23 to OH-15
David Ryon for Congress
http://site.ryonforcongress.com/
Unfortunately, "Right Ohio" is already defending Stivers and is willing take it from Stivers and the local GOP. The posting fails to mention that this is an identical situation.
Until recently, both seats were held for considerable time by moderate Republicans.
Current Republican candidates were anointed by the local party and not the people
Both Scozzafava and Stivers are part of the establishment/problem and need to be given the boot.
Instead, ad hominem arguments are used. Hopefully we get some national attention and similar alternatives get some much needed support.

Conservatives emboldened by moves in New York election
Quote
In Columbus, Ohio, a conservative has decided to run for the House because he does not see enough difference between Democratic Rep. Mary Jo Kilroy and her leading Republican opponent.
The third-party challenges in the Ohio and Virginia House races come from long-shot outsiders. But if they gain even a modicum of traction, those candidates could undercut Republican strength against two of the party's top targets: Kilroy and Perriello are first-term Democrats who were elected by a hair's breadth last year.

Local GOP snubs DeWine in attorney general bid
Quote
FAIRFIELD — Local ties and name recognition weren’t enough for former U.S. Sen. Mike DeWine to get support for state office from what one observer called an “angry crowd” at a Butler County GOP meeting Thursday, Nov. 12.
Instead, the party endorsed Delaware County Prosecutor Dave Yost in the leadup to the Republican primary for state attorney general.

What about Taft's 21% tax cut? It was supposed to help Ohio progress. Some progress!! The worse is yet to come.

There was no tax cut.
The personal tax reduction was more than made up for by the implementation of the new Commercial Activity Tax.
Ohio is taxed to death.

VO
The SOS race is the most important.
The Soros Connection in the Minnesota Senate Race Vote Count
Quote
One part of the political strategy of the group has been a project called the
Secretary of States Project
. The goal has been to help elect Secretaries of State in targeted states across the nation. The SoSP was successful in, among other places, Ohio and Minnesota. Secretaries of state are crucial in elections, since these officials are charged with ensuring the integrity of the voting and counting process. They are the gatekeepers: helping to decide who is entitled to vote and who is not. In Ohio, the Democrat Secretary of State Jennifer Brunner was widely criticized (at least among Republicans) for her efforts in the last few months, which were perceived to favor Barack Obama.
Fortunately here in Virginia, the Governor picks the Secretary of The Commonwealth. This can end some of the electoral hanky panky here when McDonnell gets sworn in. It's no accident that Brunner is the SOS in Ohio.
I listen to Dennis Prager via Podcast. One of his favorite sayings is "There are two parties in America - the Dangerous and the Stupid. I belong to the Stupid." The Stupid party does need to smarten up. The office of SOS is not one in which to fall asleep. i.e. Senator Stuart Smalley.

Counter,
One of Ohio's biggest problems with its tax code is its complexity and the difficulty in compliance. The local and school district income tax I just found bewildering. If you're a general contractor, you practically need a GPS for every one of your workers. Even Maryland has less complexity in its local income tax implementation.
I wonder what would happen if a candidate just ran on getting rid of these things where it would go?

Shadow,
Why is there so much focus on postponing the final income tax cut? The projected shortfall is $851M. The proposed changes regarding construction would reduce that by $600M. Statist Gee is even in support of this fiscal measure. I assume the final $251M could be reduced by minor cuts here and there in addition to increases in long term tax revenue generated from the income tax cut.
Credo,
I have issues with the integrity of the R candidate, Husted. He's likely to skew things in favor of the establishment GOP which isn't much of an improvement from the issue you raise, which I agree is a problem.

Candidate Requirement Guide
Ok CTH'ers, it looks like to get on the Central Committee, you need to file by Feb 18th for the election in May.
I'm not sure what form they require 2-L or 2-M. Worst case you need to get 5 signatures from your precinct to get on the committee. The requirements for County Central Committee are on Page 18 of the PDF.

Looks like the ORP has cleared to way for DeWine to become AG and Governor one day.
Dave Yost for Auditor
Remember to vote:
Kasich - Anti 2nd Amendment, Lehmen Brothers (hush hush), fed to use via Fox News
Portman - Bush's budget guy (what deficits)
DeWine - enough said
Husted - Carpetbagger
Stivers
Questions: In this election climate, do you not think that the other candidates can win in November? Do you not think that the ORP will support them? If they don't, that says something.
