Washington D.C., Oct 22, 2009 / 06:15 pm (CNA).- The advance of a bill that would create penalties to punish “hate crimes” comes at a time of increasing intolerance towards those who support the traditional definition of marriage and reject homosexual activism, Family Research Council President Tony Perkins noted on Wednesday, causing him to ask, “Where's the protection for them?”

If hate crimes against Christians should become violent and common I see no reason not to support legislation making it a crime.

Is violence against Christians, because or qua they are Christians, becoming common. I see no evidence for it.

Is violence toward homosexuals prevalent?  I would imagine that it's negligible when compared to other crime demographics.  This is political fodder, nothing else.  Eat up!

Denver Police announced today that they had made 32 arrests related to racially motivated robberies and assaults.

The Denver Police Department arrested 32 men and juvenile boys after a months-long undercover investigation into what police said were racially motivated assaults and robberies in downtown Denver, including the LoDo entertainment district.

A task force composed of Denver police, the FBI and the Denver district attorney's office investigated 26 incidents in which groups of black males verbally harassed, assaulted and at times robbed white or Latino males, according to Denver Police Chief Gerry Whitman.

All of the suspects are young black males, most of whom told police they were associated with either the Rollin' 60s Crips gang or the Black Gangster Disciples gang.
