I'm sure you are all very proud.

[However,]

TonyBlair doesn't converse with ideologues.

That's too bad.  I would imagine that someone who is confident in his beliefs would be willing to engage in a reasonable discussion (without name calling).  I guess this group is neither.

Our experiences here have shown us that "reasonable discussion" is not something ideologues bring to the table.

You see, we've had many people come and go on this website who are interested in "reasonable discussion," but without exception, it ends up in a "we'll just have to agree to disagree," despite the facts shown. And it just amounts to nothing more than a massive waste of time, or "mental masturbation" as some have called it. Sure, it can be fun, but it's just not productive.

Ask yourself: is there anything you could learn here that is likely to change your mind about anything substantive? My guess is you gave that question a solid "no." So what brings you here? Just to have a good fight? To sharpen your debating skills? To proselytize? We've been through it enough that most of us just aren't interested.

However, if you truly are interested in coming to a shared knowledge of what's right and proper for this country without the baggage of preconceived notions that hold no water, you just may get some people interested in chatting with you.

But honestly, it doesn't look good for you. Here's why:

1. By making blanket statements about an entire group (i.e., "I guess this group is neither"), you are basing your opinion of an entire group upon your perception of one or two individuals. (Evidence of prejudice)
2. The picture you posted demonstrates that you have no problem lumping people you disagree with into a large pile that's easy for you to dismiss. (Evidence of discrimination)

But you are certainly welcome to try. It starts by knocking the chip of one's shoulder, setting aside the preconceptions about who we are, and keeping an open mind.

Brown a 'game changer on terrorism?

During the campaign, Brown repeatedly railed against criminal trials for terrorism suspects, took out a television ad opposing giving “rights to terrorists who want to harm us” and declared that he did not view water-boarding as torture. And in his nationally televised victory speech Tuesday night, the senator-elect seized on the issue again.

“I believe that our Constitution and laws exist to protect this nation - they do not grant rights and privileges to enemies in wartime,” Brown said. “In dealing with terrorists, our tax dollars should pay for weapons to stop them, not lawyers to defend them.”

Pelosi: House lacks votes to OK Senate health bill

Speaker Nancy Pelosi said Thursday that she lacks the votes to quickly move the Senate's sweeping health overhaul bill through the House, a potentially devastating blow to President Barack Obama's signature issue.

Pelosi, D-Calif., made the comment to reporters after House Democrats held a closed-door meeting at which participants vented frustration with the Senate's massive version of the legislation.

New poll finds voter anger drove results of Mass. election

Dissatisfaction with the direction of the country, antipathy toward federal-government activism and opposition to the Democrats' health-care proposals drove the upset election of Republican senatorial candidate Scott Brown in Massachusetts, according to a post-election survey of state voters.

The poll by The Washington Post, the Henry J. Kaiser Family Foundation and Harvard University's School of Public Health underscores how significantly voter anger has turned toward Democrats in Washington and how dramatically the political landscape has shifted during President Obama's first year in office.
