I would argue that no one that votes for RP would have voted for Mitt "The man with the plan (Romneycare and Amnesty)" Some are predicting a major 3rd party with a "Progressive Libertarian" theme in 2012. I'd love to see the D/R candidates posted 2nd and 3rd....wishful thinking
Ron Paul could play spoiler in 2012 race
Quote
Rep. Ron Paul (R-Texas), a two-time presidential contender, could wreak havoc for Republicans if he decides to make a third-party or independent bid for president in 2012.
New numbers from Public Policy Polling show Paul winning 13 percent of the vote in a hypothetical three-way general election contest with President Obama and former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney (R).
In that match-up, Obama led with 42 percent of the vote to Romney's 36 percent. Paul polls third with just 13 percent of the vote, but appears to peel away some significant support from Romney.

No doubt that Ron Paul would take votes away from Mitt Romney... It would be a shame if Obama got re-elected....How about Mitt& Ron Paul on the same ticket???

That would never happen. RP would never ask Mitt to be VP and RP would never accept VP on Mitt's ticket. I would think that after the BO's agenda the past year and a half, those still supporting Mitt would've jumped ship. I guess memory loss is setting in, i.e. Health Care Reform and Amnesty. We're against Dems doing it, but if proposed by a Republican...

Do you think Ron P. could win on his own... 3rd party? I love the idea... but can't see it happening....Paul is a Texas Republican at heart....If Mitt wins the primary...I think Ron Paul might consider the V.P.... at least for the good of the country.. I.M.O.

My whole problem with the 3rd Party is can it get organized, funded etc. to put people in positions that will change policy before the Republic slips into tyranny? Better to get behind people like Jim DeMint & Michelle Bachman who are trying to effect significant change within an established political party.

I agree! its more practical and do-able to elect "true conservatives".[ than 3rd party].. But how do we get rid of fake republicans with "big Money".. [ McCains etc,etc]...There is still a good old boys club with deep pockets in the G.O.P.... We have to send the RHINO's a message that stupidity and liberal compromise will not be tolerated.

Nader: Progressive-libertarian alliance ‘the most exciting new political dynamic’ in US
http://www.youtube.com/v/BE4-nmR3fiM&rel=0
Quote
Prepare for the rise of libertarian progressives.
That was the message earlier in the week from trends analyst Gerald Celente, who predicted that the rapid acceleration of wealth into the coffers of the ultra-rich would drive a global youth resistance movement in 2011 and reformat long-held political boundaries.

Ron Paul takes second place in New Hampshire straw poll
Ron Paul, Ralph Nader agree on ‘progressive-libertarian alliance’
Quote
One might think the two men, seemingly ideologically opposed to one another, would rather argue than help one another.
Paul: "I think we should come together and work together, and I think we can," he said, noting that the coalition had previously worked on deficit financing solutions.
Rep. Paul and Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT), the most conservative and most liberal members of their respective chambers, joined forces last session to fight for an audit of the Federal Reserve, a private institution that handles America's monetary policy, which Nader explained is under no legal control of Congress.
