Mike Duffey is running for the 21st house district.  He is a good guy and lifelong resident of the area.  Is he a rock-ribbed conservative? Hardly. But he has a track record of fiscal responsibility.

His opponent, on the other hand, has almost no track record and his smear campaign is evidence of his vacuousness.  Is he a bad guy?  I doubt it, but the smears and outright lies show the character of the man.  He says he had no knowledge of the ads, but he still hasn't denounced them.  And the fact that he is funded primarily by the OEA is a perfect reflection of the attitude they consider acceptable.
And now we have our good friend Abramo Ottolenghi writing a support letter in the Dispatch.  Would we expect anything different?  Hardly.  Hope and change... hope and change...

Robinson can’t match Duffey’s character

I support Republican Mike Duffey to represent the 21st Ohio House District.

The opposition's campaign is attempting to disavow knowledge of the plethora of attack ads blasting lies about Duffey throughout central Ohio. Here are the ones my household has received in the past few weeks:

• Typical Politician: Ohio Democratic Party.

• Balooka Jim: Ohio Democratic Party.

• The Pain Stops Here: Campaign for the Moderate Majority (affiliated with the Ohio Education Association, Service Employees International Union and United Food and Commercial Workers).

• Fatherhood: Ohio Democratic Party.

• Right/Wrong Decision: Ohio Democratic Party.

• We Got Hosed: Campaign for the Moderate Majority.

• Think Again: Ohio Democratic Party.

• If Only: Ohio Democratic Party

So, it isn't as though some rogue third-party individual is out there running amok. It is a couple of pieces from the teachers union and Democratic opponent David Robinson's party bosses. It is him, whether his campaign manager admits it or not.

Robinson has nothing other than this election vested in this district, and nobody here really knows him.

Tit for tat would dictate that Duffey should be mailing out a series of counterattack ads highlighting that Robinson has no record of elected public service (he has lost every election in which he has run) and a poor record of money management (bankruptcy). It would be too easy.

The lack of it speaks volumes about Duffey’s honor, dedication and respect for the district.

Residents of the 21st District really have only one legitimate choice: Elect Duffey to represent us in the Statehouse.
