Ron Paul for Speaker of the House

Quote
John Boehner is poised to take the helm of House Speaker if the Republicans win the necessary 39 seats next week. But before he jumps too fast, shouldn’t we ask if he deserves the position. Did he really help get these 39 elected or was it something else, or someone else?
...
When the dust settles next week we need to be reminded about who really fought for the ideals needed to turn this country away from statism and who helped push this country towards it. If this country stands any chance in the next round of fighting as the statists will surely launch attacks not only from New York and Washington, but from Europe as well, then leadership of the House needs to be in the hands of someone who actually fought for America, and sorrowfully that person is not John Boehner.

Ignore

Ron Paul Could be the next Speaker of the House but it is highly unlikely.

The position of speaker is created by Art. 1 Section 2 of the Constitution:

Clause 5: The House of Representatives shall chuse their Speaker and other Officers; and shall have the sole Power of Impeachment.

There is no requirement that the Speaker of the House of Representatives be an actual member of the House of Representatives.

So, Ron Paul could be elected speaker.

Every speaker in history has been a member of the House of Representives.

So, Ron Paul could run for the House in two years and become speaker.
Should he win election to the Senate on Tuesday, I suspect it is unlikely he would give up his Senate seat to run for the House.
