I'd agree that there hasn't been much productive outcome, but i think you're mistaking the cause for the symptom.  The problem (in my opinion) is that you're trying to use evidence in a moral discussion.  morality isn't determined by "real world examples," except for utilitarians.  I more enjoyed the conceptual/philosophical aspects of this discussion, and I think they were adequate enough to continue discussing, but to each his own.  It's been fun.
