On 9-2-04, the Ohio Elections Committee ruled 3-0 that there is probable cause to believe that the SmokeFree Columbus Coalition published a false statement on its website which stated,"The Tobacco Industry filed petitions today to overturn the Columbus Clean Indoor Air Ordinance with a referendum". BarPAC contends that it wasn't the tobacco industry who filed the referendum, it was filed by a group of small business owners and Columbus voters who oppose the ban. The matter now goes to the full Commission for an evidentiary hearing on September 30, 2004. The OEC Complaint was filed and this post sponsored by BarPAC, Dimo Kuzmanovski, Treasurer, 2151 E. Dublin-Granville Rd., #213 Columbus, OH 43229.
