A suggestion for our monthly meetings.  La Chatelaine in Worthington has two meeting rooms; one holds about 35 and the other holds about 19.  I just spoke with Val Wielzynski, the general manager, about his reservation policy.  He said he doesn't really have a policy other than we can reserve it and as long as we order food (more than just coffee), he wouldn't charge us.

If anyone wants to check it out or talk to Val, his number is 848-6711.

Just don't order the quiche.  Real men don't eat quiche.

My stomach churns at the whole French angle, though a decision needs made quickly.  Venue voting starts tomorrow on the Townhall.com website.

This is exactly the kind of arrangement we need (no charge for the room).  And while I'd prefer damn near anything over a venue with a French name, the arrangements sound perfect.  Unless someone has a better idea, I'd suggest that the Prime Minister of England call Frenchy back and reserve the space, then get it listed on the Townhall.com voting and tell everybody to vote for it.  C'est la vie, eh?

Good work, Tony, I say we go for it.

Will do, but it is not listed in Townhall...it will have to be a write in...and based on how well it worked for me the last time I tried to nominate a place it could be 2005 before we see results.

IF the next meeting is to be held at  La Chatelaine, I will NOT attend.

I might suggest Panera's Bread at I-70 and Route 256 on the east side.   They have a community room that's available for free reservation as does the Coffee shop on N. High St. just south of Morse Road, Scotty McBean's.

Personally speaking, however, I have no problem kicking in a few bucks each meeting to keep the location at the Buckeye Cafe.

Old Wine,

Sounds like a strong resentment toward LC.   Care to let the rest of us in on your objections?

Yeah, the whole French thing.  But as some of you may know, they used to invite vets in for a free dinner once a year, and they may still do that.  I do not recall if was Memorial Day, or the 4th of July, or the anniversary of the Normandy landings.  I do know the French lady who used to run the place (and may still) was grateful to the US for freeing her native land, and was a warm, garceful, friendly woman.

My only beef with them is they goofed up my breakfast order a couple of months ago.

Well, JohnO is correct...at the CL on Lane, during one D-Day anniversary, they actually had a Willys Jeep in the front yard with all kinds of American and French flags.  I take it the owners are the "grateful French" (all 3 or 4 of them).

Be happy to explain, John, now that someone has asked.

Some months ago, I took my mother there, in her wheelchair and at her request.    When I held both doors open to get her inside, I was told they didn't appreciate the loss of heat I caused them.   I said I was was sorry but vowed right then and there I would never darken their door again.

Sounds reasonable to me...French and RUDE (actually, that's a bit redundant, isn't it?).
